“My responsibility when designing a golf course is to ensure it complements the stunning natural surrounds, and at Eastern, to showcase the native flora and fauna that Australia is renowned for. Yarra Valley’s Eastern Golf Club is a truly special place where members can enjoy teeing off with kangaroos while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding Christmas Hills and Dividing Ranges. This course delivers a natural golf experience and I am proud to be a part of it.” – Greg Norman, Greg Norman Golf Course Design

With a philosophy to create an environment in harmony with the broader landscape, The Eastern Golf Club commissioned Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) to design the 27-hole championship standard course plus Shark Waters – a Par-3 nine-hole course.

The Eastern Golf Club’s 27-hole, championship standard, course has been designed with quality and play-ability in mind. The Club’s course design brief to designers was, that the course must be/have;

  • Generous landing areas and highly playable for golfers of all abilities
  • Strategic focus (not penal) with optimal line of play
  • Walkable & multiple sets of tees to accommodate players of all levels
  • Superior practice facilities
  • High quality playing surfaces all year round

Receiving outstanding reviews from members and guests, the highly playable, member friendly design complements the existing topography whilst ensuring the spectacular natural features of the stunning setting and dramatic views of the surrounding Christmas Hills and Dividing Ranges are maximised to enrich the playing experience.

Yering Gorge Cottage guests have priority access to play the private member Eastern Golf Club.  We have mid-week ‘Stay & Play’ packages available or you can book golf in conjunction with your stay when booking via our website. Green fees apply and tee times are subject to availability.

After being rated for handicapping purposes last year, Eastern Waters was successfully launched as a course configuration in late 2019 for our Club Championship ‘Super Sunday’ – enabling Members not participating on the final day of play to compete for the Championship Plate.

Playing Holes 19-27 of the East Course, players head to Shark Waters to continue their round of golf.
